Arsenal U11-U13 boys play D.C. United
March 24 and 25

A group of U11 – U13 Arsenal players travelled to Washington D.C. March 24 and 25 to play three D.C. United teams. The games were played at the D.C. United training facility, just outside RFK Stadium. On Saturday, March 24, Arsenal lost 5 – 3 to the ’07 D.C. United Acadmey. On Sunday, March 25, Arsenal defeated the ’06 D.C. United Pre-Academy 5-3 and drew with the ’06 D.C. United Academy 3-3. Aiden Stein (’07), Luke Fiscus (’06), and Josh Jashinski (’05) were the standout performers for Arsenal FC throughout the weekend.

“It was a great experience for our players to compete against a MLS club,” said Coach Jonathan Velotta. After a timid start in the first half on Saturday, the Arsenal team played with more aggression and confidence. The positive attitude and mindset continued on Sunday, when the team scored three first half goals against the ’06 Pre-Academy.

The weekend culminated with the team’s best performance in the final game on Sunday against the ’06 Academy, in a game that featured six second half goals and three different lead changes. “It was great to see Arsenal players from three different player pools come together over the course of the weekend,” said Velotta. “The group grew with confidence throughout the weekend and proved we could compete against one of the nation’s top clubs. This will be an experience that these players will never forget.”
